FlashEff crashes Flash CS3 and CS4

Interacting with the FlashEff panel causes Flash CS4 to crash. It occurs while browsing the gallery at random times. I purchased TxEff2 and have the same problem. I had the same problem with Flash CS3 before I upgraded to CS4. Please help!

I can only give you the same advice as for the JavaScript error messages:

Please check to see if you are the main user on Mac and if Adobe Flash and FlashEff were installed in your own users. Otherwise the problem might be that you try to use Flash and FlashEff from a different user than Flash was installed on. In this case FlashEff wouldn't find all the files it needs because of different users paths (the software was installed for a specific user and another user has a different settings and Library path on Mac OS).

We recommend installing FlashEff on the same user that Adobe Flash CS3 is installed. Otherwise the FlashEff panel could have a hard time finding all the necessary files and it is possible to get that error message. The FlashEff panel can only search in the path provided by Flash and it also might have problems if the user account from which FlashEff is launched is a user with limited rights.

I am running Vista 64bit (8 gigs of ram) as a single user (administrator). I turned off firewall and FlashEff seemed a bit more stable but still got a crash after a few minutes of interaction. As soon as started to input a tag into the “Type your tag” dialog box, Flash crashed again.

I’m now reverting back to TXEFFWR to finish a project since FlashEff keeps crashing. Now I’m missing the TXEFFWR pasteboard icons of the component instances!

I just get a vague outline which is hard to see on a project.

Is TXEFFWR compatible with Flash CS4?

TxEff was created for Flash CS3 and not Flash CS4, so it is possible that TxEff and TXEFFWR will not work in Flash CS4.

Also, it is possible that the FlashEff and TxEff2 problem with Flash CS4 on Windows Vista could be a problem of Adobe Flash CS4 itself, since we tested the component on CS3 and CS4, on Mac OS, Windows XP and Windows Vista, and everything worked just fine.

Please try to report your error message to Adobe.

the component (FlashEff_Premium)dosnt let me use more then like 16 texteffects in a same Fla. if i use i cant export my movie to swf. gives me unknown byte erorr. can u help me please. thanks.

The idea is that FlashEff is based on a lot of code which is added to your clip, so you need to turn off the optimizer in Flash and place your FlashEff instances and target objects (text fields) into container movie clips. Please check out those forum posts for more details.

I'm in Vista with Flash CS4 as well. 3 monitor 64 bit setup. Flash crashes every few minutes when the Eff window is open. When it is closed I have no problems. I noticed Fireworks crashing as well when spanning 3 monitors, but when I reduced it to using 2 monitors it stopped crashing. Could it be a window management problem with Flash as well? I'd hate to have to take flash back to 2 monitors. It is a dream on 3! I've sent probably 100 crash reports to adobe, so I'm hoping for a fix in the 10.0.? patch.

We have FlashEff running on two monitors and it works flawless, I really don't know what to say about 3 monitors.
But if you say the same thing is happening with Fireworks maybe it's Adobe's fault.
