Effect transition duration

All,

I'm trying to find a way to edit the setting for the duration of the effect I've made...here's what I did

I put an alpha effect for show on my MC and within the same flasheff component I put another alpha for hide. Now my question is how do I control the time in between these two effects? No matter what I do its plays for the same amount of time, no matter how many frames I put in between. I tried delay in option but that did nothing for this and tween is only for the effect so I'm kinda stuck. I can do this manually but I paid for this extension and I know there must be a way of controlling this. This is urgent so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please disregard this...I wasn't putting the delay to a high enough number. I got it working right.
