Help, please, with a Deeply nested FECCallfunction - 14 years ago
I have a loaded external SWF that I would like to receive a function call from. To help understand, let's call them parentSWF and childSWF. In the childSWF, the MovieClip that I would like to make a FlashEff button out of is located a couple of MovieClips deep. In other words, I have: 1: the childSWF scene ......2: MovieClip #1 ............3: MovieClip #2 ..................4. theMovieCby BruceND75 - FlashEff 2.0
Re: Loading multiple external swf's - 14 years ago
robcarey, Thanks for the thanks! That is a simple adjustment. The trick is to change the code above where it reads: if (clipNumber<(clipsLength-1)) { clipNumber = clipNumber+1; playMC(); } To the following: if (clipNumber<(clipsLength-1)) { clipNumber = clipNumber+1; } else { clipNumber = 0; } playMC(); The runOnce function is designed to determine when the plby BruceND75 - FlashEff 2.0
Re: Loading multiple external swf's - 14 years ago
I want to provide an update to correct two things in my previous post. I've been busy with the project, porting it to Flex, and discovered two things. First, while you can pop the above script into a Flash file and run it, the Flex is a bit more of a challenge. Fair warning. Second, and most importantly, I discovered that the event listener for the UILoader needs to be changed. Changeby BruceND75 - FlashEff 2.0
Problems with Motion Tweens - 14 years ago
Could someone please elaborate on how motion tweens interact with FlashEff? I would like to create a movieClip, assign a FE Show effect, a delayed FE Hide effect, and then, during the life of that movieClip on the Timeline, move it here and there with motion tweens. Whenever I add a keyframe and set up a motion tween for such an MC, the MC disappears and repeats the FE Show effect, then appby BruceND75 - FlashEff 2.0
Re: Loading multiple external swf's - 14 years ago
Thanks for the kind words, Ionut. In case you and/or others are interested in watching this evolve, I'm posting my next "version" of my app. Some might pick up some things by seeing the steps. In the meantime, anyone can take the code, paste it into a Flash or Flex app, and play a string of FlashEff'd SWF's. My main goal the first try was just to get the elements (UILoader, Loaderby BruceND75 - FlashEff 2.0
Re: Loading multiple external swf's - 14 years ago
After a long weekend, I came up with a workable, baseline design. While I plan on developing this further, I thought you all might be interested in how to put this together, so here is the code. Assumption: Each external clip ends with a "stop();" on the final frame. // with credit to the script provided at import fl.containers.UILoader; // Array of external clips to use.by BruceND75 - FlashEff 2.0
Loading multiple external swf's - 14 years ago
I am designing an application where, in order to keep load times down while maintaining flexibility, and to avoid the problems with FlashEff and multiple scenes, the application loads a number of external SWF's, and then plays each SWF sequentially. Each external SWF is equivalent to a 'scene.' I noticed that Papillion points out the need to use UILoader instead of Loader so that the FLashEffby BruceND75 - FlashEff 2.0
What is best way to trigger a Hide? - 14 years ago
I'm a little confused about how to use Hides. I simply want to have a movie clip Show (with a preselected FE pattern), then -- upon a button press -- Hide (with a preselected FE pattern). I create a movie clip, drag the FE component onto the MC, and select both the Show & Hide patterns, while deselecting the 'autoplay' paramater on the Hide pattern (so that it now waits for me to tell itby BruceND75 - FlashEff 2.0
Has my ability to edit settings been taken away? - 14 years ago
I just upgraded from FE2 Private Beta (and before that, FE 1 Premium Unlimited) to FE 2. The essential aspect of the experience for both those versions of your product was the ability to edit settings. (e.g. color of a dropshadow.) Now, with FE 2, (uless there is something wrong with my install or setup). I have to accept the presets as they are, with no editing of settings. Am I mistaby BruceND75 - FlashEff 2.0
Solved: Re: Confusion re: GoToFrame - 14 years ago
Ionut, Thanks for all your help. With your help, I have solved the problem. It turns out that when looking at the mxp file, I had been looking at the date and not the time. I was going with the 11:00 am version, instead of the 5:20 version. The version numbers were not changed, and so I had inadvertently re-installed the 11:00 am version. Works now. Thanks again.by BruceND75 - FlashEff 2 Beta (Beta phase only)
Re: Confusion re: GoToFrame - 14 years ago
Ionut, Thanks for the advice, but I think there is something deeper going on. What you found may help me figure out what, but I still have the problem. If you check earlier in this thread, since we communicated yesterday, I have tried some things to narrow down the problem. Ultimately, after reinstalling FlashEff2 Private Beta cleanly, and creating a whole new document, only the FlashEby BruceND75 - FlashEff 2 Beta (Beta phase only)
Re: Confusion re: GoToFrame - 14 years ago
As a follow-up, I have tried uninstalling both the original FlashEff and FlashEff2 Private Beta and then installing again the Private Beta. I then opened a clean FLA, and set up a minimal scene with a button. I still get the above error. Ionut, Thanks. I couldn't figure out how to attach a file, so I forwarded the fla to your support email. I appreciate you taking a look. Bruceby BruceND75 - FlashEff 2 Beta (Beta phase only)
SOLVED: Confusion re: GoToFrame - 14 years ago
I am confused. I noted that the latest download (5/19) supposedly fixed the missing GoToFrame command option. I downloaded and installed it, saw the inclusion of the GoToFrame, and assumed everything was fine. However, whenever I tried to use it, I got this error: "FLASHEFF2 ERROR: Unknown eventType.
