Re: Can anyone explain these parameters? - 12 years ago
florodebat Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > That number corresponds with the index of each preset > as they appears listed inside the flasheff2 panel. That is not correct. There is a forum thread here which explains the 'preset' property. As for FETGlow, valid values for the 'preset' property range from 1 to 49, with a lot of gaps in between these two nby TerryG - FlashEff 2.0
For Download: Preset Class Generator - 13 years ago
For those of you who prefer to use FlashEff2 with ActionScript (Flash or Flex), this AIR application will generate code from a selected preset and wrap the code in a class. You can then export the class to an .as file. Info, example files and download here. Edit: the hyperlink is fixed.by TerryG - FlashEff 2.0

Re: Animating Filter Effects - 14 years ago
I updated the sample file to use TweenLite instead of Tweener. After additional testing, it still appears that the only filter effects which can be tweened are the ones with a 'refresh' property. And of those, not all effect properties are tweenable. So it's a mixed bag...by TerryG - FlashEff 2.0

Re: Text Shiffting after the animation - 14 years ago
I think I know the problem. I ran into this when using the FETStationPanels effect. It turns out that if you create a text field by clicking and dragging on the stage -- i.e., you create a field with a specific width -- the text will shift when you apply a FlashEff effect. The solution is to create the text field by single-clicking on the stage. This will create a field with a default size, and yby TerryG - FlashEff 2.0
Re: Errors in AS3 Usage Doc - 14 years ago
Thanks Florin. I've been wondering about the differences between the FlashEff2 and FlashEff2Code components. It looks like FlashEff2Code bundles all the code for easing...Are there any other (intentional) differences?by TerryG - FlashEff 2.0
Re: Errors in AS3 Usage Doc - 14 years ago
This isn't an error in the pdf, but it relates to ActionScript usage. When you install FlashEff2 (not the free version), a folder named "Document Class Example" is created inside the "Tutorial Files" folder. In the document class MyExample.as, there is this line: import FlashEff2; You might think it would be more appropriate to use this instead: import FlashEff2Code; As iby TerryG - FlashEff 2.0

Re: Errors in AS3 Usage Doc - 14 years ago
Version 5.2.4 of FlashEff2 released on Sep. 17, 2009 fixes the import statement errors in the AS3 Usage pdf, but the code example in the doc for the 'swapTargetInstanceName' property is still throwing the same runtime errors. This code example is basically repeated for the descriptions of the 'swapDelay', 'swapTarget', 'swapTargetVisibility', 'swapTransition', 'swapTransitionName', and 'swapType'by TerryG - FlashEff 2.0

Errors in AS3 Usage Doc - 14 years ago
First, none of the code examples for the listed properties and methods will work because the import statements are incorrect. This: import com.jumpeye.flasheff2... Should be: import com.jumpeye.flashEff2... // upper case 'E' in flashEff2 Second, after correcting the import statements I'm getting runtime errors when I try the code example for the swapTargetInstanceName property: FLASHEFF2by TerryG - FlashEff 2.0
Animating Filter Effects - 14 years ago
Some filter effects have a property named 'refresh'. The refresh property allows you to modify the effect's other properties at run time. Using Tweener, it's possible to create animated filter effects. Sample here, with source.by TerryG - FlashEff 2.0
Re: For Download: Preset ActionScript Generator - 14 years ago
Thanks Shawn. I think the app could be especially helpful when customizing text effects. I didn't understand some of the properties until I started poring over the description files. Most of the text effect presets work on individual letters, but here's an example which uses "selectedStrings" for the partialGroup property. To see this example, you would need to paste the code belowby TerryG - FlashEff 2.0
Re: Access presets via AS3 - 14 years ago
It took me a while to figure this out, but here's what I understand about the 'preset' property: - Some effects have multiple preset effects which use the same value. For example, if you look at the preset effects for FESAlpha, you'll see that the AlphaHorizClose and HorizCloseSmooth preset effects both use a preset value of 11. It appears that the 'preset' property itself contains its own setby TerryG - FlashEff 2.0
For Download: Preset ActionScript Generator - 14 years ago
During the FlashEff2 Beta, I posted a feature request that the FlashEff2 panel generate some ActionScript code which corresponds to the selected preset. This feature didn't make it into the final release, so I created an AIR app which does this. It's pretty easy to use: you select a preset for an effect and the app will generate a working AS code example which you can copy and paste into yourby TerryG - FlashEff 2.0
Re: Has my ability to edit settings been taken away? - 14 years ago
If you have the the Premium version, it looks like all effect parameters are customizable through ActionScript. Another way to create a customized effect is to specify an XML file in the Misc tab of the FlashEff2 panel. You just don't get the convenience of immediately seeing a preview of the effect in the FlashEff2 panel.by TerryG - FlashEff 2.0
Re: Using FlashEff2 with FlashDevelop - 14 years ago
Well, it turns out that unpacking the .mxp file is not necessary to access the .swc files. It is helpful to do this, though, because the xml files in the .mxp provide information that’s missing from the documentation. If you’re using Flash CS3, the .swc files can be found here: C:\Documents and Settings\(username)\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Flash CS3\en\Configuration\Componentsby TerryG - FlashEff 2.0

Using FlashEff2 with FlashDevelop - 14 years ago
Is it possible? There is another forum post which shows how to do this with FlashEff1, but those instructions don't seem to apply to FlashEff2. After unpacking the mxp file, I don't see any .swc files.by TerryG - FlashEff 2.0
Compile Error 1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: Matrix3D. - 14 years ago
I'm seeing this error when I try create an FESFlyingPanels effect with ActionScript. I've got an import statement for the class: import com.jumpeye.flashEff2.symbol.flyingPanels.FESFlyingPanels; But it looks like I need to add something else to the .fla's library, and I'm not sure what that might be. Adding an "import flash.geom.Matrix3D;" statement doesn't help.by TerryG - FlashEff 2.0

Ionut, you listed 26 symbol paths, but there are 52 symbol patterns in the FlashEff2 Panel. FlashEff2 Suggestions Redux - 14 years ago
It would be better if you published "ActionScript3.0 Usage.pdf" with the pages in landscape mode rather than portrait mode. This would mean less line wrapping in the code examples and they would be easier to read. It might be a better option to publish this as an html file. There aren't any graphics, so the file would be self-contained, and you could use tables with columns which automaby TerryG - FlashEff 2.0

Ionut, Thanks for your reply. > You are right about the preset being hard to figure out, but we have chosen this way of naming > them as many patterns have 55 presets and some of them have complex animations that are > hard to be described.
